The name Inel is derived from "Electronic Instruments" or as we say in France "Instrumentation Electronique".

Recent developments have seen collaborations between Inel and major European and French laboratories including The Institute Laue Langevin in Grenoble and the Laboratoire Leon Brllouin at Saclay, enabling the company to expand its manufacturing base into neutron detectors, high energy X-ray sources, radiography and much more besides.

Many other designs are now in place to ensure that Inel retains its position of being one of the worlds leading suppliers of high technology solutions for most the worlds major research laboratories.

The company was formed in 1974 to design and manufacture a range of technologies for the nuclear industry, electronics research and to exploit X-ray technologies for research and industry generally.

The company quickly and dramatically increased its product range by aquiring the X-ray diffraction facility of Compagnie General de Radiologie (CGR) and Jobin Yvon and although Inel is now a multi national company with offices in France the USA and the UK, we remain the leading French high technology manufacturer of X-ray and high energy physics systems, servicing the requirements of most of the worlds major laboratories.
